One of the most common inquiries we receive at the Breast & Body Clinic is regarding cost. We often inform patients that pricing for surgeries largely depends on your specific procedure and its extent, combined with other essential factors that can fluctuate for every patient. However, to help with budgeting and affordability, the below general indicators will give you an idea of the costs associated with your considered procedure.
Pricing of Surgery
Explore our pricing schedule for surgery.
Total Cost Of Procedure
The total cost of the procedure comprises surgeon fees, anaesthetist fees, theatre and hospital stay, assistant’s fees, implants/devices, and potential additional fees to consider. The total cost for the surgery will vary depending on whether there are Medicare item numbers for the procedure that can be claimed and whether the patient is covered by the health funds to have the procedure done in a private hospital. The costs that may be generally covered by health funds or Medicare are the theatre fee, assistant’s fee, part of the anaesthetist fee and part of the surgical price. In some select cases, implants may be covered as well. Medicare requires specific criteria for patients to be eligible for cosmetic surgery claims, which patients should check if they believe they might be suitable.
Anaesthetist Fees
Anaesthetists’ services and expenses are in addition to the surgeon’s fee. The fee can cost around $500-$1000 per hour. Anaesthetists bill in “units,” This charge depends on the complexity of the type of surgery, its duration, and whether any monitoring devices are used.
Theatre and Hospital Stay
Depending on the extent of surgery being conducted and your health, you may require a hospital stay. The charge for your visit will depend on how many nights are needed in the hospital, but this may not always be the case, as most procedures can be performed as day surgery. The time required in the operating theatre will also be included in the cost, which will vary based on the time it will take to complete the surgery. Fees for any specific dietary requirements or special assistance that may be needed may also be included if required.
Potential Additional Fees to Consider
Additional fees that are not covered by the quote we provide may be charged by other providers that are involved in your care, such as:
Pathology fees if any tissue is sent for examination or blood tests are collected.
Radiology imaging.
Additional doctors’ fees.
